Question Number: 25860

Appearance 12/31/2011

RE: Rec,Select, Competive Under 19

Kevin Freeman of Groves, TX USA asks...

I was just wondering will the MLS referees for this coming season, will they be wearing the new Adidas Euro 2012 referee jerseys? I was just curious.

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Kevin
Adidas and Major League Soccer (MLS) announced a 8-year sponsorship agreement in August 2010 that made Adidas the official athletic sponsor and licensed product supplier for the league.
Adidas has yearly developed new referee apparel and the current range can be viewed here
I would suspect that MLS referees when provided with new apparel will be provided with the most up to date in line with previous years.
The new Adidas kit for 2012 will not be available until March

Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney

Quite probably, but who knows? For the rank and file referee though, our uniforms are still dictated by the USSF Referee Administrative Handbook.
