Question Number: 23776Law 10 - Method of Scoring 8/15/2010RE: County Combination Adult daniel bruns of warrington, Cheshire England asks...Can a team score direct from a restart? Without the need to pass to team member? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Daniel A team can score on its opponents directly from any kicked restart with the exception of an indirect free kick. So if it's a direct free kick, goal kick, kick off or corner kick a goal can be scored directly without the need to pass to a team mate. A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw in restart. A team cannot score an own goal directly against itself from any restart.

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney That depends entirely on which restart is used. Indirect free kick - no direct score is possible unless the ball touches any other player on the way into the net. Direct free kick - can score directly on the other team Throw-in - cannot score directly (see IDFK) Corner kick - can score directly Dropped ball - can score directly assuming ball was in play (hit the ground first) Kick-off - can score directly on the other team
