Question Number: 23744Law 4 - Players Equipment 8/6/2010RE: competive Under 18 Trevor of Brick, NJ United States asks...swapping of the keeper with a field player at a PK is allowed but my question is do the players that are swapping need to change their jersey's? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Trevor Yes it is necessary to change jerseys. Law 4 states that the GK must wear a jersey the distinguishes him from the other players. Makes sense really as lets say the ball rebounds into play from a penalty kick, it could be a number of minutes before it goes out of play again and identification of the GK is vital so that there is no confusion during play as to who is the GK. It also confirms the change has happened
