RE: competitive Under 16

neil evason of ballinalsoe, galway ireland asks...

hi our goalkeeper for u16 team was given a straight red card for impeding a striker with a clear goal scoring chance,my question is he is registered to play for our u14 team but also plays u15 and goalkeeper for u16 does his immediate one match ban cover only u16's or is he also banned for u14, u15 whichever comes first

Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney

That is entirely up to the league/association rules regarding punishment for players chalking up misconduct cards.

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Neil
In many Underage Leagues suspensions are served at the level to which the dismissal relates to. My guess is that the suspension will be at U16 unless there is a competition rule to decide otherwise.
It also means that games at another level do not count towards serving the suspension as well. So let's say he gets one game that will be at U16.
You should however check with the Disciplinary Secretary for the League.

Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham

It varies with each league.

In many leagues in my area, a player is suspended from participating in any division until the one match suspension has been served in the division in which the card was shown.
