Question Number: 22772Law 4 - Players Equipment 1/30/2010RE: Rec & Select Under 17 Peter Grove of Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire England asks...This question is a follow up to question 22739 Actually, the Premier League rules say that both teams should normally wear their home strip unless there is a clash. The full rule is as follows: 'F.21. Subject to Rules F.20 and F.22, when playing in League Matches the Players of each participating Club shall wear its home Strip unless the home Strips of the participating Clubs are alike or similar or are in the opinion of the referee likely to cause confusion in which event Players of the Visiting Club shall wear its away Strip or a combination of its home Strip and its away Strip. In the event of any dispute with regard to the Strip to be worn by either Club, the referees decision shall be final.' (Rule F.22 states that teams may choose to wear their away strip when there is no clash, but only up to a maximum of eight times a season.) Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Thank you for researching and and providing the PL league rule, which confirms and amplifies our answer to Q#22739. It appears teams could choose to wear their away uniforms at almost half their away games.
