Question Number: 22768Law 14 - Penalty kick 1/29/2010RE: Under 16 Marissa of Bethel, Fairfield asks...At the taking of a pk a teammate of the kicker entered the penalty area before the kick was taken The kick was taken and the ball entered the goal. what kind of kick should be awarded? Answer provided by Referee Tom Stagliano Referee Marissa Under all soccer laws and rules, if a team mate of the kicker comes closer to the ball than ten yards or enters the penalty area prior to the kick, and the ball enters the goal from the kick, the goal is disallowed, and the penalty kick is retaken. When the penalty kick is retaken, the same kicker does not have to take the kick. A team mate may take the kick, as long as the referee and therefore the goalkeeper is informed as to whom is taking the penalty kick.
