Question Number: 22704Law 4 - Players Equipment 1/5/2010RE: Adult mike penez of Caerphilly, Wales asks...Premier Club Strips I understand in 1921 the law changed so that home sides wear home strips for home games. Who decides whether the away side can wear their home kit or must they change to a second or third strip if colours clash? Who makes the decision? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Mike It is a competition rule so the competition organisers decide what they want, put it in a competition rule book and then referees enforce those particular rules. In the case of the Premier league it is the league that decides. In some of the League that I officiate on the competition rule is that the Home team has to change due to ease of access to kit should a clash arise.
