Question Number: 19461Law 9 - The Ball in and out of Play 6/19/2008RE: 2 Under 12 brad schmall of foxboro, ma us asks...If team "a" kicks the ball and my goalie "b" picks the ball up, can he roll it to any player inside the goalie box? or does it have to leave the box, as in goal kicks. Thanks Brad Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney When the ball is in play, as with team a and goalie b in your scenario, there is no requirement for the ball to leave the penalty area in order to be played by any player. You are thinking of a goal kick or free kick from inside the penalty area. Those kicks must completely exit the penalty area before they are in play.
